Nixie Tube Clocks

Since 2014 Modern Horologist has been making high quality nixie tube clocks from over 65 hard to find exotic woods.  

Originally known as "Numerical Indicator EXperiment no 1, these neon gas filled glow lamps were ubiquitous in the late 1950s thru early 1980s.  They were used to illuminate numbers, letters, and symbols in scientific and industrial instrumentation.  Nixies began the basement of a German- American tinkerer, David Hagelbarger in the 1930s and later commercializedin 1955 by the business equipment company, the Burroghs, Corp.  

Nixies displayed data vital to NASA's moon landing, lit up critical metrics for controlling nuclear power plants and indicated the rise and fall of share prices on the Wall Street stock exchange!

At modern Horologist- we purchase Ukranian made nixie tubes manufactured between 1960-1983 and repurpose them into a modern digital clock/ calendar-  complete with a real time clock and wifi connectivity.

We Warranty our Clocks for 1 year, parts and labor and offer flat fee repair cost after the warranty expires.
